Chroma key screen for production

A blue or green screen that is easy to track in post.

Open Chroma Grid on a phone, shoot the scene, then replace the screen with footage, an interface, or an ad creative. High-contrast markers help lock the plane even when the camera moves.

Post-production without setup pain

Shoot the screen, key the color, insert the final content.

01

Place the phone in frame

Choose a blue or green background and enable corner markers. The screen becomes a clean, bright surface for replacement.

02

Track the markers

Clear tracking points give the editor reliable anchors for corner pinning, planar tracking, and stabilizing the insert.

03

Insert any footage

After keying, replace the screen with a video, landing page, app interface, ad banner, or product demo.

Why it helps

When a real display gets in the way, Chroma Grid keeps the shot controllable.

In bright light, screens catch glare, interfaces clip, cameras pick up moire, and display brightness fights the exposure. Chroma Grid leaves only a color plane and tracking points in the shot, so the final content can be added in post.

Advertising

Shoot one take with the phone, then swap creative versions during editing.

Product shots

Control reflections and lighting without fighting a live screen interface.

Social and promos

Quickly place footage, landing pages, and app demos into real camera shots.

Markers hold the plane

The markers are intentionally simple: white field, black center, and crosshair.

This shape reads well on blue and green backgrounds, stays visible after compression, and makes it easier to track the screen corners accurately.

Help center

Using Chroma Grid on set.

Chroma Grid is designed to be simple: choose a chroma color, pick a marker layout, film the phone or tablet, and replace the screen in editing software.

Basic setup

  1. Open Chroma Grid on the device that will appear in the shot.
  2. Open the side menu and choose Green Screen or Blue Screen.
  3. Keep tracking markers enabled unless the shot does not need screen replacement.
  4. Lock exposure and focus on the camera before recording.

Choosing a marker layout

Use 2x2 for simple corner tracking. Use 2x3 or 3x3 when the device moves, the angle is steep, or the screen takes up a large part of the frame.

Editing workflow

Key out the blue or green screen, track the visible markers, then corner-pin or planar-track the replacement footage into the phone screen area.

Bright environments

If a real display produces glare, reflections, moire, or exposure problems, record the chroma screen instead and add the final UI, footage, or ad creative in post.

FAQ

Common questions.

Why does the app use blue and green backgrounds?

Blue and green are standard chroma key colors. They are easy to isolate in editing software and usually separate well from hands, devices, and room lighting.

Why are there tracking markers on the screen?

The markers help editors track the screen plane and align replacement footage. They can be turned off from the side menu when they are not needed.

How do I remove ads?

Open the side menu and choose Remove Ads. The purchase is non-consumable, so it can be restored later on devices using the same Apple ID.

The app open ad did not appear. Is something wrong?

Ads depend on availability from the ad network and may not appear every time. The app remains fully usable even when no ad is available.

Which editing apps can use this footage?

Any editor that supports chroma keying and tracking can use the footage, including tools for planar tracking, corner pinning, compositing, and motion graphics.
